Sunday:
Top: J.Crew / Shorts: J.Crew / Sunglasses: Karen Walker / Shoes: J.Crew / Necklace: QVC
This past week I headed to Lake Michigan with my boyfriend Eric and his family. I had been there once before to the cottage they rent a couple of years ago and had a blast! Sunday we got everything all packed up, grabbed some yummy lunch at my favorite bagel shop, and headed to the cottage! It was a pretty quick drive compared to my previous trip to Wisconsin. We stopped a couple times on the way up, but made it in time for the sunset!
I drove some of the way, and again, these shorts are a must! I have them in 4 different colors and they are so comfortable, loose and give off such a relaxed vibe. But don't get me wrong, you can dress them up by tucking a cute shirt in showing off the waist band. I obviously have a J.Crew shopping problem, but these sandals were to good to past up! They were only $13, and they go with everything!
Monday:
Top: Lululemon / Shorts: Target (similar) / Jacket: Patagonia / Shoes: Teva / Sunglasses: Karen Walker
We didn't have the best weather this week, but Monday was a sunny hot day! I wanted to jump right into some outdoor activities and took a hike that let out onto a sand dune. The view is just unbelievable, the water and sky touch. I had fun running down the sand dune and walking along the lake back to the house. It was a good 2 hour trip, but it was blue skies all the way!
When I got back we took the kayaks out and kayaked across the lake to an outlet, that let out onto Lake Michigan. I am defiantly getting much stronger after all the kayaking we did on this trip!
Later that night we watched a movie, it is a tradition to watch a movie at the cottage every night!
Tuesday:
Top: J.Crew (similar) / Shorts: J.Crew / Shoes: J.Crew / Sunglasses: Karen Walker
As you probably guessed it, the J.Crew shorts make another appearance. On Tuesday it was pretty cold and rainy, so we decided to head into town, which is about a 20 min drive to get some lunch. Where the cottage is located it has no internet, and not cell phone signals, so it was a bit challenging to keep up with daily blog posts, but I was on vacation after all. One of the perks about the cottage is that it is a time to not be connected with the social media word, making the trip much more enjoyable, and relaxing.
We went to a brewery for lunch and I ordered the chicken salad wrap. It was pretty good, but I probably should have gotten the flat bread pizza, since that is what they are known for (oops!) I'll have to get it next time. After lunch we walked about and looked at some of the stores, most were souvenir shops, so I didn't find anything that caught my eye. We also had to stop for ice cream on the way back, I actually got ice cream everyday, which made me very happy!
At one of the shops we picked up the movie 'Date Night' which is always hilarious. It had been awhile since I last saw it. Of course it was better with the popcorn I had well watching it!
Wednesday:
Top: Lululemon / Shorts: Target (similar) / Shoes: Teva / Sunglasses: Kate Spade / Watch: G-Shock
Koozie: Shop Taylor Monroe
Top: Shop Taylor Monroe (matches the koozie above!) / Shorts: J.Crew / Sandals: Jack Roger
Wednesday was a sunny day, but was still cool, especially on the water. We went on a kayak trip on one of the near by rivers. It was very pretty but exhausting! We were out on the river for about 2.5 hours. My shoulders were do sore after that, but of the ice cream did help make it a little better.
Well on vacation I love wearing cute oversize shirts. They go with everything, and can be worn for different things, I wore mine over my swimsuit. If you are looking for the perfect t-shirt check out Shop Taylor Monroe! Plus the shirt matches with my koozie! How awesome is that!
We picked up pizza for dinner (Hawaiian, my fav!) and watched the movie 'My Cousin Vinny' which was also a pretty funny movie. Eric and I walked down to the beach and watched the sunset, which was beautiful, I wish it was just a little warmer, the sand was so cold on my feet!
There will be a part 2! So stick around for the rest. I am headed to Iowa this Thursday for my Uncles wedding, so as always, follow me on Instagram, or the hashtag 'TBBtravels' to see what I'm up to!
