Bookworm: August Book Recommendations

Hello, everyone! I finally have another book review/recommendations post up! You can read my last book recommendation post here! I just got back from a quick relaxing vacation to a cabin on a lake that has no cell or internet service. I finally got a chance to sit down and binge read some books! Let me know if you have any recommendations on what I should read next in the comments below!

GOOD AS GONEThis is a must read. A 13-year-old is kidnapped from her bedroom in the middle of the night and the only witness is her younger sister. Her kidnap basically broke her family till one day a woman comes to the door claiming she is their missing daughter years later. The whole story you are trying to figure out the truth about who this girl is and why she is claiming to be their missing daughter. I really liked this book, it kept me interested and engaged the whole time. I did not see what was coming at the end of the book.
THE TWILIGHT WIFE: This one took me awhile to finish because of not having much time to actually sit down and read it all the way through, so it is a bit choppy for me. This was not my favorite, but I do think it was a good book to read, an easy short read. I did like the twist in the story and how it was kind of mystery, you questioning what might have happened. The story follows Kyra, a marine biologist that remembers nothing about the diving accident that has left her with a form of memory loss. She starts to piece together the last few years and realizes not all is what it seems. Kyra is racing to uncover her past and face the truth that has become a terrifying nightmare. Out of all the books, I am reviewing today, this one I feel like you could skip.
THE COUPLE NEXT DOORThis was an amazing book! I highly recommend this one. I swear every chapter I thought I knew who done it, but I was totally wrong. I love when a book has me guessing. Anne and Marco's babysitter cancels at the last minute when they have a dinner party next door. Marco talks Anne into leaving their six month Cora alone because they can bring along the baby monitor and check in on her at half hour intervals. When the two arrive home shortly after 1 am though Cora is nowhere to be found and the police are called in to investigate. As the investigation proceeds, it becomes increasingly clear that the kidnapping was orchestrated by someone close to the couple or the couple themselves, leading Anne to doubt herself. It was such a great read.
IN A DARK, DARK WOODThis book is one of those I started and didn't think I'd like. After reading the rave reviews on the cover of the book it said prepare to be scared, very scared. When I read a book that is supposed to be scary I never get scared or have nightmares, so I was skeptical at first. Once the book got going it was a quick read for me. After a bachelorette (Hen) party, Lenora wakes up in a hospital bed badly bruised and confused with a bandaged head and memory loss; and when she overhears a devastating police conversation outside her door, she begins to piece together the nightmare of a weekend that brought her there. Toward the end of the book, my heart was pounding to try and figure out what all had happened.
ALL THE MISSING GIRLSThis one I had been wanting to read for awhile. Nic returns to her childhood home of Cooley Ridge 10 years after she left. She is there to clean up her father's house and put it on the market as the funds are needed to pay for his nursing home care. She left 10 years ago -- after her best friend's disappearance. The disappearance has never been solved. Now, a neighbor is missing. Nic knows someone has moved things around in the house... What happened 10 years ago and is it related to what has happened now? Are Nic's father and brother involved? What about Tyler, her high school boyfriend? I felt like the main character Nic was very similar to Gillian Flynn's Shape Objects. I thought this book was a very interesting, only thing I didn't like was that it went backward telling the story and I felt like it was confusing at times.

Getting Clear Skin Just in Time For School With AcneFree

This post has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and AcneFree. All opinions are mine alone. #AcneFreeSummer #AcneFreeLife #CollectiveBias
Hi, everyone! Today I will be sharing how AcneFree helps create a clean foundation for one less thing to worry about in your fall schedule, whether that involves a busy day at school or work. The "kit" products provide an easy routine to follow for those just starting out with a skin care regimen or picking one back up. I love that these products can easily be found at Walgreens, Walmart and even online at Amazon. I bought all mine through Amazon which included Prime shipping! I started using this kit to get my skin cleared for back-to-school so I can go all natural and spend less time getting ready. The products really do a great job and the price for the kit was very affordable! AcneFree products were easy to add into my beauty regimen so below is a tutorial on how to use each product so you can add it into your daily routine.

I picked up the AcneFree Sensitive Skin 24 Hour Acne Clearing System that is the only acne clearing regimen designed for sensitive skin. It is a highly effective three-step system that is gentle on your skin yet tough on acne. Consistent use controls new breakouts, reduces redness and eliminates blackheads around the clock. AcneFree is the only brand that makes acne-clearing systems formulated with Advanced Micro-Benzoyl Peroxide. Micro-sized benzoyl peroxide is designed to work faster and penetrate deeper into pores without the harshness and over-drying that can occur with traditional benzoyl peroxide. The AcneFree Sensitive Skin 24-Hour Acne Clearing System includes Corrective Acne Cleanser, Alcohol-Free Acne Toner, and Hydrating Acne Repair Lotion + Spot Treatment. Three simple steps, twice a day for clearer skin!
Step 1: Corrective Acne Cleanser gently deep-cleans to remove pore-clogging oil and impurities. This sulfate-free cleanser fights acne with Salicylic Acid (1.5%) while botanical extracts soothe the skin. Use to cleanse skin every morning and evening. You can also use it on your chest and back. After applying you just wash off with a warm wash cloth.
Step 2: Alcohol-Free Acne Toner helps to balance skin tone and remove dead skin cells with natural fruit extracts. This calming and anti-redness formula is gentle enough for sensitive skin. After applying on a cotton pad you let air dry before moving to the next step. This left my skin feeling so smooth and fresh feeling. For use, twice a day after cleansing can also be used on your chest and back.
Step 3: Hydrating Acne Repair Lotion + Spot Treatment with Micro-benzoyl Peroxide offers 24-hour continuous clearing when used twice a day. Micro-sized acne medicine benzoyl peroxide (3%) is easily absorbed into pores to eliminate acne bacteria and provide continuous breakout control.
This isn't part of the AcneFree Sensitive Skin 24 Hour Acne Clearing System but it works get with the kit. This AcneFree Therapeutic Sulfur Mask is a deep penetrating pore therapy to help soothe acne-inflamed skin and absorb excess oil. The therapeutic formula features Sulfur, a natural and effective acne treatment ingredient. Vitamin C, Copper, Zinc, and Meadowsweet help to minimize the appearance of pores and refine skin tone and texture. The AcneFree Therapeutic Sulfur Mask leaves skin feeling fresh with a healthy glow.
Directions for Use: Apply to the affected areas after cleanser and toner. Can be used on entire face, chest, and back, or as a spot treatment. Massage until mask turns blue (3 min) and leave on for additional 10 min. I loved the way this mask felt, it really tightened and made my face feel tingly. After waiting for 10 min, rinse well with a warm wet wash cloth. Use 2-3 times a week. I use it after I apply the AcneFree Sensitive Skin 24 Hour Acne Clearing System.

Back to College with eBay: College Tech Essentials

With school back in session in a few weeks, I teamed up with eBay to share some college tech essentials. Success at college takes more than just a stack of notebooks and a pile of pencils. From laptops to cell phones, you need technology to succeed in today's world of higher educations. Find a phone on eBay and you have yourself an organizer, a calendar, and a way to call your parents. You can even set a reminder to call home in case it slips your mind. I put together a few college tech essentials below, check out eBay's college checklist here for even more college essentials.
I could not survive without headphones in college. They are perfect for wearing well in the library, on the way to class, for working out or in your dorm room. I always like to watch Netflix on my laptop and wear these headphones so I am not disturbing my roommate. Plus these are wireless and are noise canceling.

 Media Streamer
I have been using the Amazon Dot for while now but just upgraded to the Google Home (see more below) media streamers are the new personal assistant. They can do everything for you, play music, tell you the weather, your schedule, seriously everything! Having a media streamer for back to school will help you stay organized and on track.

A laptop is something you for sure need in college. Everything can be done on this and the best part is it is portable. When I first started college I used to just take notes with paper and pen but now I take my laptop to class with me every day. It not only makes typing notes easy, it keeps me organized and I actually can read what I wrote haha! You will also be needing a laptop for doing group projects and turning in assignments.

Wireless Printer
Some schools actually give you a credit to print, but that means you have to go to the printing lab and if you don't live on campus that could be a problem. Having a wireless printer handy makes printing super easy and you can print things from your phone now too. This is a great tool to help decorate your room with photos or fun Pinterest finds and of course print papers for school!

why I love my Google Home:
I recently bought a Google Home and was a little worried about if I wouldn't get enough use out of it. After a week I cannot live with out it. It is honestly a great speaker to have, but on top of that, I can ask it what the weather is like in the morning, or how long it will take me to get to campus. I can set reminders and alarms all just by saying "Ok, Google". I bought mine off of eBay which sells 81% of all merchandise is new and 87% of items sold are Buy It Now so no bidding is necessary. I found this Google Home for $40 cheaper than buying it retail plus it was a buy now, so not waiting and it came with free shipping! You can find everything you need plus more on eBay.

Closet Staple: Denim Dress

Madewell Raw Edge Denim Shirtdress (only $50!) Madewell Bandana Steve Madden Rizza Lace-Up Block-Heel Sandals (cheaper option here) Cuyana Classic Leather Tote Cuyana Leather Tassel Keychain Ray-Ban Large Original 62mm Aviator Sunglasses Apple Watch Series 2

It took me so long to get this blog post up, I have been having the worst computer problems lately. Things have just been so slow and I can't figure out what the problem is. I cleared out a ton of space by deleting photos and other things that I knew would take up a lot of space but that didn't really fix the problem.

In other news, this dress is a closet staple for sure. Not only is it a piece you can wear all Summer, but also it is an easy transitional piece to Fall. It is also a piece you can wear for years to come. Right now it is only $50 in limited sizes, but I would suggest going to look for it in store. I also know Madewell had a super similar one a part of the NSale but it looks to be sold out. I bought my regular size.

Summer's Most Popular Sandal Now $25!

Socialite Cozy Thermal Top Levi's 501 Short in With The Band Merona Margo Pearl Slide Sandals Madewell Mini Transport Suede Crossbody Bag (other options here and here)Baublebar necklace (cute option here) Karen Walker The Number One Sunglasses Apple Watch Series 2

These are for sure this Summer's most popular sandal. They came out around May and were sold out immediately everywhere! I got my hands on the Steve Madden Jole Embellished Slide Sandal (last pair that is) and was so excited. I took them on a trip to Colorado and put them on in the house to walk around in and hated them. Not because of the way they look, but because every time I walked my foot was sliding out of them. I wasn't going to keep a pair of sandals that cost me $70, (yes, that alone made me want to return them) that my foot was sliding out of. I sadly returned them and longed for them to go on sale.

Two weeks ago I spotted these babies at everyone's favorite store and was so excited! Finally the shoe I wouldn't care if my foot was sliding out of because they were only $25. I bought them in my regular size and they are seriously perfect. Also, the quality on them is great for the price, I was really surprised by that. They honestly look like and feel like the Steve Madden pair, materials, and everything. I would highly recommend giving the Merona Margo Pearl Slide Sandals a try.

Now moving on to something not shoe related. I bought this light weight thermal top at the surprise surprise, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It was only $25 with I thought was a great price for a shirt that you could wear now and layer later in the seasons. The color is so beautiful and I love the texture. I sized up to a medium in this for a looser fit.

Now the original style is back in stock in both colors and most sizes. But you can get the dupe of them here only $25 with an additional 10% off with code "SHOES10". What a steal! it also comes in both colors and is fully stocked!! Let me know if you own this pair or like the style in the comments below.
